Birth Doula Services

My birth support package includes the following services:
2 prenatal visits in your home, during which we'll explore your desires and options for      your birth, comfort measures and techniques I can offer, exercises to prepare you for birth, and get to know one another. Trust and an easy rapport is important for this relationship, so I use these visits as a way to get to know you and your partner, and for you to get to know me.
Assistance with creating your birth vision/plan. I use my research and training to help you understand your options and possibilities, and together we'll create a plan that you feel confident about.
- Unlimited phone and email support from the time your contract is signed until four weeks following your birth.
- Other resources and referrals as needed. I can give you my recommendations for services relevant to your pregnancy and birth, from massage therapists to prenatal yoga to future childcare. And if I don't have a quick recommendation, I'll do the research to help you find what you need!
- 24-hour on-call assistance beginning at 38 weeks and continuing until your birth (including phone support during early labor). You can call or text me any time, and I'll be there within two hours once we've decided it's time for me to join you in labor!
- Continuous labor support starting in active labor and continuing until 1-2 hours after your birth. Backups are available, if needed, though it's rarely necessary.
- Breast/chestfeeding support immediately after your birth.
- 1 postpartum visit (usually a week or so after your birth) for us to debrief and talk through your birth experience, find any additional resources you might need, and answer any lingering questions.

Postpartum Doula Services
I offer both daytime and overnight shifts.
Daytime shifts are typically 4 hours and scheduled between 9am and 6pm.
Postpartum Care shifts can vary widely from visit to visit based on your needs that day. Here are some of the services you might expect during a daytime postpartum doula shift:
     - Emotional and Informational Support
     - Newborn Care Guidance & Education
     - Infant Care while you sleep
     - Partner & Sibling Support
     - Breastfeeding/Chestfeeding/Bottle Feeding Assistance
     - Meal Prep, Errands, Light Cleaning
     - Referrals & Research

My overnight care services begin after 8pm and conclude at 8am, with an overnight minimum of 8 hours and maximum of 12 hours.
During an overnight shift, my focus is solely on infant care while you get a good night's rest. I will keep your baby in a separate room to allow you to fully relax, and will not interrupt except in the case of an absolute emergency, which is extremely rare (thus far, it's never happened to me!). If you are exclusively nursing, I will bring the baby to you for a feeding and take the baby back when they're done. If bottle feeding is an option, I will do bottle feedings myself and leave you with clean bottles in the morning. You're welcome to exclusively nurse, leave all feedings to me, or do a combination of both--whatever works best for you and your baby!

Birth Planning
I always recommend having a birth doula, but if you feel that having a doula isn't the right fit for you, I also offer stand-alone birth planning services! A birth plan consultation includes:
- A 3-hour virtual or in-person meeting in which we will discuss your options for locations, pain management, comfort measures, and interventions for your birth from the onset of labor to the first two hours of your baby's life. We'll also discuss options for special circumstances like medical inductions and cesarean sections, and briefly discuss a postpartum plan.
- Email access for questions from the time of our meeting until you give birth.
- A personalized follow up email with scholarly research, local resources, and other information to help you make informed decisions about your body and your baby.
